Classic Architectural Homes

Architecture has to do with planning, designing and constructing form, space and an ambiance to reflect functional, technical, social, environmental and aesthetic considerations.

It requires the creative manipulation and coordination of materials, technology, light and shadow. Often, conflicting requirements must be resolved. It mustb result in a magical result.

The best designs also encompasses the pragmatic aspects of realizing buildings and structures, including scheduling, cost estimation and construction administration. There is always a Value Addition when the employment of good designers are engaged. Good design is the cheapest option.

The quality and thoroughness of the Documentation, typically drawings, plans and technical specifications, schedules. costings, permits defines the structure and/or behavior of a building to be or has been constructed. The interpretation by the Builder and all associated with the project rely on understanding what they are building. The better the design and the documentation the more involvement will be the Builder and the BuildingTeam. To build something to be proud of is what the designer aims for so that the builder and all the building team are enthusiastic with their efforts.  This saves the Client enormously.

Belief in the design by the Building Team avoids expensive variations.

We have no hesitation in highly recommending Geoffrey Brown as a most talented designer of beautiful homes be they classical or contemporary.

Having had Geoffrey design two French inspired homes in Mt. Eliza Victoria, we have loved living in them both. His sense of proportion and classical detail is meticulous – both houses are regarded as the best in the area.

Geoffrey supervises the construction until completion and we have been more than satisfied with the result. As a bonus, we are firm friends and are indebted to him for having enriched our lives as we continue to live in such a beautiful home.

I have had the pleasure to work on several homes dotted throughout the urban vicinities of Melbourne, updating interiors as well as exteriors of well-established early century homes.
Street elevation: discreet entry to 4 car garage

Hanby St, Brighton

A piece of Normandy in Melbourne's middle class suburb on the bay. A standout house in the locale. Behind the garden wall the charm of France exists. A walk up the steps to what appears to be the front door is the entry to an entry court leading to the real front door - This is no garage with a house attached.

A patrician's house of faultless classicism. A beautifully proportioned interplay of curves and rectangles composed in a symmetry that is disciplined and at the same time quirky. Delightful interior spaces make this house exciting and friendly.
